Air-Fryer Chicken Wings Tips

What is the best air fryer?

Finding the best air fryer for you can be tricky. That's why we've done the work for you: Check out our Test Kitchen's top air fryer brands.

Should you use fresh or frozen wings for air-fryer chicken wings?

For this air-fryer chicken wing recipe, we recommend using fresh chicken. If you snagged frozen wings, follow these cooking instructions for cooking frozen foods in an air fryer.

How should you grease the air fryer before cooking the chicken wings?

To grease your air fryer, give it a quick spritz of cooking spray or rub some oil (preferably one with a high smoke point, such as safflower or soybean oil) along the bottom of the basket. However, keep in mind that most air fryers come equipped with a layer of non-stick coating on their basket or tray, and may recommend not adding any extra sprays or oils. Be sure to double check with your air fryer manual, and make sure you know our other air fryer tricks beyond using cooking spray for greasing.

How can you make sure your air-fryer chicken wings are crispy?

To make sure that your air-fryer chicken wings are crispy, pat them dry before applying oil (if any), and make an effort not to overcrowd the basket—one of our best air fryer cooking tips. Air fryers rely on the circulation of hot air to make the food turn out crispy, so giving enough space inside the appliance to allow the air to circulate will give the best results.

What should you serve with air-fryer chicken wings?

Air-fryer chicken wings pair well with many dishes! Serve it with a homemade blue cheese dressing, or ranch with celery sticks and carrots. Barbecue sauce would be a good choice for dipping as well. Wings go well with other gameday snacks like mozzarella sticks, nachos, jalapeno poppers, and chips and queso.
